Flying TV is proud to be the only UK operator to offer gyro stabilised aerial filming on a fixed wing aeroplane. Helicopters have amazing lower speed/hovering agility but are actually relatively slow in the cruise. This is true regardless of helicopter type, as they are all speed limited once they have a camera system mounted to them.
Our many years experience of shooting air-to-air with other aircraft has taught us that using a higher speed filming platform rather than a helicopter is advantageous in certain circumstances. It can make the difference between good shots and great shots!

Ideal Mission Profiles
Our development of the high speed tracking platform was borne out of the need for faster moving cameras for filming other aircraft. The system is ideal for air-to-air filming tasks with any other aircraft that cruises at more than 90-100 Kts. That’s most fixed wing aircraft and some helicopters too.
Having a high speed platform allows a target aircraft to fly in a speed range more suited to its design with the camera still able to keep up. This means it doesn’t have to fly as slowly as possible with its nose high in the air. Perfect for aerial chase sequences, aircraft beauty shots and also POV shots.
In addition to air-to-air work, the high speed platform is ideal for ground GVs where the client wants us to cover many locations over a large area. With a transit speed 50% faster than a helicopter and operating costs comparable to our R44s, the savings can be enormous.
