Monica Wyer – Aerial DOP
Monica has over 25 years experience as a television professional and joined the Flying TV team in 2004. She shoots some of the most beautiful and iconic aerials you will have seen. She has also been instrumental in developing the aerial filming technologies and services we offer. Monica is also a helicopter and fixed wing pilot.
Ingo, Mackie, Chris & Ian – Helicopter & Drone Pilots
Our pilots are all commercially qualified, each with several thousand hours of flying experience. As our ‘aerial grip’ they understand the intricacies of flying for the camera and the importance of working as part of a team to deliver the shots. Most importantly they have a real passion for the role which brings them some of the most rewarding flying available.
Sarah Greene – Managing Director
“In September 2003, Mike and I were at the Robinson Factory watching G-PIXX being built, our first Flying TV helicopter. Mike asked me if I thought anything was missing. I felt we needed an extra camera, inside the cockpit positioned centrally and high, at the rear facing forward.
This is the camera a presenter can look back at, whilst showing the viewer what’s ahead. Mike agreed and always called it the ‘Sashy Cam’ – ‘Sashy’ being our Godchildren’s nickname for me. Appropriate really, because I see this as my main job, looking ahead… also listening, making sure Flying TV evolves and grows as Mike intended”.
Our Base – Denham Aerodrome
Our base at Denham aerodrome is the closest private airfield to central London, although we can be anywhere in the UK or northern Europe within a few hours, Denham has easy transport connections to anywhere in the UK and is half an hour by road from the West End.
Mike Smith – Founder
When Mike created Flying TV, he wanted to bring in a new and efficient way of delivering the most breathtaking aerial footage, for the best price. By working carefully with the UK aviation authorities, he helped to rewrite the rule book on access and new technology. Mike left an extraordinary legacy and Flying TV continues to thrive and grow with all his principles and guidelines in place.
