About FlyingTV
Founded with a passion for flying and great pictures, Flying TV is a UK company started by broadcaster Mike Smith.
It used to annoy me intensely that aerial filming was so difficult to organise. And it seemed to have more than its share of problems and accidents. We've brought in a whole new and efficient way. And we never stand still - constantly developing new ideas and technology
Mike Smith - MD FlyingTV
CHIEF PILOT Jonathan Penny
"JP" holds the highest civilian qualification for a pilot - ATPL(H). He also holds mutliple rotary ratings and is trained in fixed wing aerobatics. He's worked with us for 6 years and has some 6000 flying hours. An examiner and instructor for the CAA, Jonathan knows the rules, the limits - and what makes a great aerial shot. He's so good, we're loaning him to the Olympics event coverage.
SENIOR CAMERA OPERATOR Mona Wyer
Mona has been with us for 7 years and shoots 90% of our work. She has been instrumental in our switch to HD and tapeless acquisition. Mona is a qualified helicopter and fixed wing pilot.
MANAGING DIRECTOR Mike Smith
Over 35 years broadcast experience and an experienced helicopter pilot. Mike also shoots when he can get away from the desk.
HQ
Although we can be anywhere in the UK or northern Europe within hours, our base is the closest private airfield to central London, Denham Aerodrome. On the edge of the Chilterns, but inside the M25, Denham has easy transport connections and is only 30 minutes by road from the West End.
We've designed and had built a new base dedicated to aerial filming and dynamic cameras. Under one roof is all you need.
